Vascular Surgery Advanced Clinical Rotation
The Section of Vascular Surgery welcomes students from other institutions to rotate on our service. Sub-internships last for four weeks. The clinical experience takes place in the outpatient clinic setting, the inpatient setting, and the operating room at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. This provides potential exposure to all major disciplines in vascular surgery.
Sub-interns are integrated into the housestaff team. Daily duties include rounding with the housestaff, participation in the operative schedule and spending time in the outpatient clinic setting. Sub-interns will have the opportunity to engage with faculty during their rotation. Students will also will have an opportunity to present a patient case or Grand Rounds lecture on a topic of their choice during specified education time.
According to Washington University School of Medicine policy, the student must receive academic credit for their participation in this elective. A written evaluation of the student’s performance will be required upon completion of the elective.
Housing options are available upon acceptance and are coordinated through the Curriculum Office.
